What we like to read
We’re hungry for everything speculative: fantasy, horror, science fiction, magical realism and weird fiction.
We love writing which is literary and experimental: beautiful, ambitious prose that expands what genre fiction can do. It doesn’t need to be neat. It definitely shouldn’t be conventional. We want ideas that burn. We want stories that haunt us.
We’re looking for fiction for adults, so no YA or children’s books please. Stories that involve superheroes or time travel are a hard sell, as is excessive violence. We’re specifically interested in writers living in the North of England, and welcome submissions from queer, disabled, working class and otherwise marginalised writers. Please don’t send us your work if you’re not living in the North of England. We may accept writers from across the UK in the future.
