About

Carnyx (pronounced car-nicks) is a new micropress based in Tyne & Wear, UK. We aim to publish exceptional new speculative fiction that you won’t read anywhere else, with a focus on writers living in the North of England.

Not sure what speculative fiction is? It’s a cover-all for science-fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism and weird fiction. We adore work that’s literary, experimental, and doing strange things with speculative genres.

The press will release anthologies, short fiction collections, and novellas.

Our values

Carnyx Press is a values-led publisher. We want to find ways to better support writers and get money in their pockets. We welcome and encourage submissions from marginalised writers. We’re totally against the use of generative AI – we’re here to share stories from humans, not machines. We also want to explore ways to be as environmentally sustainable as possible in our operations and printing.
