We’re pleased to present a series of events tying in to the launch of Oaths and Offerings: A Carnyx anthology of folklore, throughout May and June 2026. Our next events will be held in:

Newcastle Launch Event
Newcastle Arts Centre, Newcastle, Thursday 4th June, 7pm | Free entry
We’re holding a launch event to celebrate our anthology of folkloric short fiction! This free event will include readings, a discussion around folklore and writing, a Q&A, an opportunity to purchase the anthology, and refreshments.
There’s no need to book! All are welcome to join for an evening of strange, dark and playful tales from Northern writers. Speakers will include Northern Writers Award winner Suzannah Evans Furnass (author of Near Future and Space Baby, Nine Arches), Emma J. Lannie (author of Behind a Wardrobe in Atlantis, Mantle Lane Press), and Carnyx Press editor Nathaniel Spain.
The event will be held in the conference room of Newcastle Arts Centre, 67 Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1SG. The venue is a 5-minute walk from Newcastle Central Train Station. To reach the conference room, walk past the art shop and turn left into the courtyard. Here you’ll find a set of blue doors. The conference room is on the first floor and there will be signage on the day.
Leeds Launch Event
Hyde Park Book Club, Headingley, Leeds, Saturday 6th June, 6pm | £5 + booking fee
Our second launch event is part of Leeds Lit Fest! The evening will featuring readings by six of our Oaths and Offerings contributors, and discussion around folklore and writing, at the wonderful Hyde Park Book Club.
Featuring Steven French, Emma J. Lannie, Sophie Parkes, Victoria Stewart, Ella Sprakarn and Mae Tang, along with Carnyx Press editor Nathaniel Spain, this is going to be a packed evening of storytelling, a chance to mingle with likeminded folklore fans, and an opportunity to pick up the anthology.
As this is a small venue, booking early is highly recommended.
